“The scope of the symposium is recent advances in the fields of biophotonics, nanophotonics and metamaterials. In addition to provide a forum for exchange of ideas and results for scientists active in the fields the symposium will serve as a platform for interdisciplinary discussions. The symposium is furthermore intended to stimulate interest for a better understanding of these frontier topics of photonics research and provide an introduction to these fields for interested persons and students, partly through the inclusion of short-course tutorials.

As the aim of the symposium is to provide a broad overview of the fields of biophotonics, nanophotonics and metamaterials and the call for papers is open to the general areas of these respective fields. All accepted papers (including poster presentation papers) will be indexed in EI and published on IEEE Xplore.

The symposium will contain plenary sessions, parallel sessions on the respective fields and a poster session. Prizes for the best posters will be awarded. Short-course tutorials on biophotonics, nanophotonics and metamaterials by international leaders of their fields will also be included.

The purpose of the symposium

is to illustrate the great multidisciplinary, comprehensive opportunities and development possibilities offered by biophotonics, nanophotonics and metamaterials, and to help to further establish these research fields as being of great emerging strategic importance.

is to bring together international experts in order to highlight the frontlines in these important areas of science and to strengthen synergy effects and collaboration prospects.

is to highlight and bring up some fundamental aspects of the branches of biophotonics, nanophotonics and metamaterials that are based on particular physical and chemical processes.”
