Rong, HaishengDr. Haisheng Rong is a senior research scientist in the Photonics Technology Lab of Intel’s Corporate Technology Group. He is currently leading the Raman silicon laser research project and studying nonlinear optical effects in silicon waveguide based photonics devices. He has worked in many areas of optical and laser technologies during his career including optical information processing, high-resolution laser spectroscopy, large scale laser interferometer for gravitational-wave detection, and optical communications and interconnects. He has published numerous papers including two in Nature and has won numerous Intel awards including the highest Intel Achievement Award in 2005. In November 2005, he was recognized by Scientific American as one of the top 50 leaders in science and technology during 2004-2005. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, his B.S. and M.S. from Nankai University, China, all in physics.
