Vladimir M. ShalaevProf. Vladimir M. Shalaev is the Robert and Anne Burnett Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Purdue University). He has authored one monograph and one co-authored book, two edited/co-edited books, 15 invited book chapters, and over 200 publications in total. About 100 invited presentations, including a number of plenary talks. He is one of the pioneers of introducing plasmonics to realize a negative refractive index at optical frequencies, and is one of the most active scientists in photonic metamaterials. Currently he is leading (as the principal investigator) Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) Project "Tunable and Re-configurable Optical Negative-Index Materials with Low Losses", which involves many scientists from Purdue Univ, University of California (Berkeley), the Pennsylvania State University, Univ of Pennsylvania, Univ. of Colorado, Princeton Univ., Univ of Arizona, U niv of Wisconsin, University of Michigan, and Denmark Technical University, etc. He is a fellow of the Optical Society of America, American Physical Society, and the International Society for Optical Engineering. |
