Brismar, HjalmarHjalmar Brismar was born 1965 in Stockholm, Sweden. He graduated 1996 as PhD in engineering physics from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) under the supervision of Nils ?slund. After PostDoc training at Harvard University he became assistant and later associate professor in experimental pediatrics at Karolinska Institutet (KI). He became the first holder of the chair in Experimental Biological Physics, Cell Physics at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, in 2003. At KTH he heads a multidisciplinary research group combining applied physics with cell and molecular biology. When moving to KTH he was appointed as guest professor at KI in order to strengthen and broaden the ongoing multidisciplinary efforts. Brismars two groups at KTH and KI use multidisciplinary approaches to study biomedical questions on the cellular and subcellular level. An important part of the studies is development of new methods and techniques for analysis of processes in single cells based on live cell imaging, microstructure design and mathematical modelling. |
